
Dr Hua Guo
Theme Leader, Coal Production, CSIRO
Dr Hua Guo is Theme Leader-Coal production, at CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation), Australia. The Theme focuses on major R&D activities in coal mining engineering and technologies including coal mining systems, mining automation, and mining environmental technologies.
Dr Guo is a mining engineer with 28 years experience in both mining operations and research including 3 years at Broken Hill with Pasminco, 6 years at Mt Newman with BHP, and 12 years with CSIRO Exploration and Mining. Since 1998, he has led CSIRO integrated research into mine gas, water and subsidence controls, mine ground condition prediction, and real time ground monitoring and interpretation.
Dr Guo obtained his B.Eng. in mining engineering in 1982 and M.Eng. in mining geomechanics in 1984 from Northeastern University China. In 1989, He obtained his Ph.D. in mining geomechanics, the University of Wollongong, Australia.
