Tajikistan creating a platform for dialogue

Following its second Validation, Tajikistan has made meaningful progress in implementing the EITI. The suspension that resulted from its first Validation has therefore been lifted.

Speaking of: The EITI is enabling stakeholders to get a better overview of Tajikistan’s extractive sector and engage in more informed debate on natural resource governance. It has also contributed to widening civic space within the extractive sector.

Data mining: Tajikistan is working to establish an online mining cadastre system that can be used to provide a diagnostic of license data. The country just published its 2017-2018 EITI Report, and will explore opportunities to systematically disclose extractives data through government and company systems. A set of 11 recommendations will need to be addressed before Tajikistan’s third Validation in 2021.
